Fumaric Acid
Synonyms: Trans-Butene dioic acid
Molecular formula: C4H4O4
Molecular weight: 116.07 g/mol
CAS No.: 110-17-8
Category: Food acidulant
Properties:Fumaric acid is a white granule or crystalline powder with a fruity sour taste, which is about 1.5 times that of citric acid. Fumaric acid is often used in combination with citric acid and tartaric acid, which can present fruit acidity.
Application
1) In terms of resin, Fumaric Acid is used to produce unsaturated polyester resin, which is characterized by good chemical corrosion resistance and heat resistance.
2) In terms of food, Fumaric Acid is used as a sour agent, and can be used in refreshing drinks, Western-style wine, cold drinks, concentrated fruit juices, canned fruits, pickles, and ice cream.
3) In terms of medicine, Fumaric Acid can be used as an intermediate of fine chemicals such as medicine and optical bleaching agent, and is used in the production of medicine dimercaptosuccinic acid and iron fumarate.
4) In other respects, the copolymer of Fumaric Acid and vinyl acetate is a good adhesive, and the copolymer with styrene is the raw material for making FRP, and the plasticizer made of fumaric acid is non-toxic , can be used for vinyl acetate latex in contact with food. It is also used as an intermediate for synthetic resins and mordants.
