Taurine, also known as α-aminoethanesulfonic acid, is isolated from taurine, hence its name. The pure product is colorless or white oblique crystal, odorless, chemically stable, soluble in organic solvents such as ether, is a sulfur-containing non-protein amino acid, exists in free state in the body, does not participate in the biosynthesis of body proteins.
